Captain America Finds a Director.
Oh Captain America. Where art thou? According to Marvel Studios, it’s right around the freaking corner! Marvel has just signed on director Joe Johnston to helm the super important Captain America flick due out in 2011. (On an unrelated note, can we start saying 20-11 instead of two thousand eleven? It sounds cooler.)
Who is Joe Johnston you might ask….well he is the guy that brought - up until the Dark Knight - the best comic book ever to the big screen, The Rocketeer. He also brought us Jurassic Park III so I don’t know if that cancels it out. Let’s see according to IMDB he also directed Jumanji. (I liked that.) Honey I Shrunk The Kids (I liked that), and October Sky. (Never saw it).
Captain America is the most important movie to make when it comes to Marvel Studio’s plans. He is the first Avenger. It’s going to be a period piece set in World War II. It’s also going to be a kick ass movie that ties all the other movies together to make the Avengers movie. So Johnston better bring his Rocketeer director’s chair, and not his Jurassic Park III one.
