Check Em’ Out / Throw Em’ Out
This week brings us a little more of a choice in our cinematic adventures. Hopefully, this will help you out this weekend in choosing the right flick for you.
CHECK EM’ OUT

What is it? Sex Drive. Eighteen year old Ian finally gets the opportunity to lose his virginity when a woman he meets online offers to have sex with him if he drives to Knoxville to meet her. Accompanied by friends Lance and Felicia, whom Ian has a thing for, but she in turn has a thing for Lance, take off on a road trip in Ian’s brother’s beloved 1669 GTO- without permission of course. Hilarity ensues.
What’s it rated? R for strong language, sexuality, nudity, some drug and alcohol use.
Why should you see it? If you were like me, you thought this was just another teen comedy about a kid trying to get laid. While it is that, it is along the lines of a really good Apatow comedy. Think the 40 Year Old Virgin except with teens. It’s really really funny. I’m not usually a big fan of these American Pie like movies, but this one is great. I highly recommend it for a good laugh.

What is it? W. W. takes viewers through Bush;s evenful life-his struggles and triumphs, how he found his wife and his faith, and of course the critical days leading up to Bush’s decision to invade Iraq.
What’s it rated? PG-13 for drug and alcohol use, some sexual references, and brief disturbing war images.
Why should you see it? No matter what your views are on this president, this movie is a pretty good look at the life and times of our president. I thought it was fair and not too far left. Pretty decent flick.
THROW EM’ OUT

What is it? Max Payne. Marky Mark is a cop determined to track down those responsible for the brutal murders of his family. Much like the Punisher. Hell bent on revenge, (Much like the Punisher) his obsessive investigation takes him on a nightmare journey into a dark underworld to fight Sucre from Prison Break. As the mystery deepens, Max is forced to battle enemies beyond the natural world and face an unthinkable betrayal.
What’s it rated? PG-13 for violence, drug content, sexuality, Mark Walberg.
Why should you stay away? Because you can’t name one good movie that’s ever been based off a video game. If you want a shoot em up movie, go see Rocknrolla.

What is it? The Secret Life of Bees. Set in South Carolina in 1964, Dakota Fanning goes to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
What’s it rated? PG-13 for being incredibly preachy and boring.
Why should you stay away? While the critics all gush over this thing, it’s not a movie you want to spend 20 bucks on to see in a theater. Wait for the DVD in a couple of months if it interests you.
