Holy Unnecessary Batman! Robin Gets His Own TV Show!
Did you ever wonder what life for future Robin-to-be Dick Grayson was like before Batman came and scooped him up? Yeah me neither. But the fine folks over at the CW that have brought us such brilliant shows as Smallville, Birds of Prey, and ill-fated Aquaman show seem to think it’s a great idea.
Nevermind continuity that says Dick Grayson was pre-teen when his parents were murdered at the circus, the CW and new Smallville showrunners Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson are teaming with producer McG for “The Graysons.” The show will follow Dick “DJ” Grayson, his family, first loves, and young rivals. The series will be set in modern times and will have a one-hour running time. So in other words, a craptacular Smallville wannabe with a kid with no superpowers in a circus.
Does anyone really care about Dick Grayson’s life before he becomes Robin? Seriously? I know Smallville is near its end much like my grandmother was when she was laid up in a hospital bed, but c’mon! Smallville was good for three seasons then just became this repetitive, poorly written teen angst show. Without Batman, Robin isn’t even interesting!
(Edit-Robin isn’t interesting….ever.)
