The Dark Knight Smokes Pineapple Express
Despite the predictions to the contrary, The Dark Knight stood atop the weekend box office for the fourth straight weekend, taking in 26 million dollars. The Dark Knight beat up on the new comer Pineapple Express which took in 22.5 million respectively.
This is the first time since Lord of the Rings: Return of the King to accomplish the feat. In less than a month, The Dark Knight machine has taken in 441 million dollars. Third best all time behind Star Wars and Titanic. It is expected to beat Star Wars’ 460.9 million by weeks end.
The next contender for the weekend box office crown is Tropic Thunder, which by all predictions will beat out The Dark Knight. There is also a pesky little Star Wars cartoon coming out too. While this might mark the end for The Dark Knight at number one, one might wonder does it have enough steam to beat Titanic? While I doubt that will happen, the impressive take it has alreay pulled in is good enough for this fanboy, and the countdown for the sequel cannot possibly come fast enough.
