CHICAGO-  So far this summer we’ve seen green goliaths demolishing scenery, iron men fighting each other, and Angelina Jolie’s half naked butt on the big screen.  It’s been a fun stretch of time for fanboys and regular old movie goers alike.  ( I didn’t include Hancock for a reason folks).  But July 18th looks to be the culmination of everyone’s wait.  All the above mentioned was the prom and the after party, and now it’s time to seal the deal with your date, The Dark Knight.  Already reviews are coming in that compare The Dark Knight to classic movies such as LA Confidential, Heat, The Untouchables, and The Godfather II.  Pretty hefty comparisons by any means, especially for a “comic book” flick. 

But there are a few more reasons to catch the movie besides the raving reviews and Heath Ledger’s amazing portrayal of the Joker.  Studios are stammering to attach their future projects’ trailers to what will be the highest grossing movie and most watched of the summer. 

   The first of three new Terminator movies planned, Terminator: Salvation starring none other than Batman himself, Christian Bale, will be attached to The Dark Knight, and I personally can’t wait to get a peek at that.  Also coming from the world of graphic novels, comes the big screen adaption of Alan Moore’s Watchmen.  Watchmen was an amazing piece of literature, not just graphic novel wise, but literary wise that depicts real world superheroes in the 80’s and how they deal with their lives and a death of a loved one.  It’s amazing stuff, and I can’t wait to see how true they stay to the novel.  The new Harry Potter trailer was planned to be attached, but it doesn’t look like that will make it to The Dark Knight, even though you plan to.
